About Battery iPhone AppAbout Battery is one of these really simple and usefull apps for mobile, specially iPhone users – which is known as battery killer. This app has a single screen  dashboard filled with basic information about your iPhone / iPod Touch battery life in different situations:

  • Total charging percentual
  • Remaining standby time
  • Remaining time while talking (2G and 3G)
  • Time left using Internet (EDGE/3G or Wi-Fi)
  • Video playing remaining time
  • Audio playing remaining time (iPod mode)

I knew that audio would win the battle, specially because the screen is off for most part of time, but the wi-fi thing surprised me. I didn’t think that wi-fi spend so much more battery than 3G – almost twice more.

Pro version (not tested – $0.99) promises more tips to optimize battery use of your iGadget, plus adjustments on predictions for old batteries.

LightSaber Custom CharacterTen in ten nerds allways wanted to have a Lightsaber, the sword used by the Jedi knights from Georges Lucas creation: Star Wars. There’s a lot of models and versions in different sizes, sounds and colors of Luke Skywalker‘s and Darth Vader‘s swords, but this iPhone app is lightweight, easy and very nice.

Lightsaber Unleashed is a free teaser for the game The Force Unleashed. It emulates the sounds of the “real” Lightsaber, using the iPhone built-in accelerometer when you move the phone like a sword in the air (“air sword”). You can choose one of five game characters: Darth Vader, Rahm Kota, Maris Brood, The Aprentice e Shaak Ti, or create a new one using an existing photo or taking a new shot with the camera, when you can also choose the laser color of your sword.

The background music from the game is also available, when you and your nerdy friend start to “fight” with your iPhonesabers. Ideal to kill some time at the office (when your boss is not around) or to animate that Star Wars Party. Well, you can allways trick some Trekker, but the risk is all yours ;-) .

Zen Piano Main WindowZen Piano – Use the Force is a free and simple application, that delivers more than promises. The app turns your iPhone into a mini-keyboard (from Do to Do) with almost real sound and  experience.

Use the Force” term is because it uses a technology named TapForce (can be disabled on configs) that simulate a real tap on a key. Tap normally or gently to control the sound loudness. But be carefull or you can smash your screen ;-) .

Zen Piano also record your hability on keys and play it for you. If you are a beginner, use the headphones. Unfortunately, you can’t save the sound or define it as ringtone, but it’s ok. It’s just a toy, right?

Oh! The app uses very well the multitouch resources. You can tap more than one keys simultaneously and the sound stays clear. Same as playing the piano.
